A content creator who is doing a long walk to raise funds for charity was hit by a car in the middle of a livestream while walking along the shoulder of a road.
The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon (28), when Isaiah Thomas, known online as “hmbl zayy,” was walking along the shoulder of Interstate 40 in Indiana while documenting his journey from Philadelphia to California.
Suddenly, a dark blue Mazda entered the shoulder and struck Thomas directly. Apparently, the driver of the Mazda was cut off by a silver car before the maneuver, which ended up causing the incident captured on video.

Thomas picked up his camera seconds after being hit to record the extent of the damage left by the debris. The cart the streamer was using as support during the walk was knocked over, and his belongings were scattered across the road.
Police and firefighters arrived within 20 minutes of the incident to check on Thomas. “Good thing I had a back brace on, that saved me,” the content creator told two officers.
Thomas was taken to a hospital, where he underwent tests for injuries to his neck, feet and legs. “I appreciate everyone […] checking to see if I’m okay. God is the greatest, I’m okay, just getting some tests done now,” Thomas said in a video posted on Instagram.
“From the video of what happened, they’re trying to figure out how I’m still alive. The officers said, ‘I’m so happy I’m looking at you like this and I’m not looking at you dead,’” the streamer said.
Thomas did not reveal the extent of his injuries, but assured that, as soon as he is discharged, he will resume his journey to California. “We’re going to finish this race, we’re not going to let the devil win. We’re going to make sure we finish this marathon. God is the greatest, I’m alive and that’s all that matters.”
Thomas’ 100-day journey, which began in Philadelphia and is headed for California, aims to raise US$200,000 to launch his “HMBL University,” intended to provide higher education opportunities to high school students who cannot afford college.
The funds would also help take students back to Africa, exposing them to new cultures and possibilities beyond their own environment. “This is bigger than me. It’s about creating access, building futures and showing young people that their circumstances do not define their potential,” Thomas wrote.
